Smt. Kalyani Ramani is an accomplished vocalist, vaiNika and teacher of Indian Carnatic music. Kalyani trained for several years under her mother, Prof. R Subbalekshmi and Smt. Neela Ramagopal, well-known vocalist from Bangalore. Prof Subbalekshmi herself underwent rigorous training for over 15 years under Sangeetha KalAnidhis Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer and K S Narayanaswamy Iyer for vocal music and veena respectively.
Kalyani has a Master’s Degree in Music from Kerala University. She has been actively engaged in promoting the cause of Carnatic music in the US since the past For 30years, she has trained hundreds of students in vocal music and Veena in the US and India. Bhairavi Fine Arts Society of Cleveland (USA) honored her with an award as the “Best Music Teacher in North America” at the prestigious Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana Festival in recognition of her exemplary role as a Carnatic Music Guru.
Kalyani has given several Veena and vocal performances on AIR, Television, and on stage in several cities in India as a graded artist. She has also performed at numerous locations across the United States under the auspices of several cultural groups and associations.
