Dr. Bhavani Prakash, called ‘Sakala-kalavalli by none other than the current Sangita Kalanidhi nominee Sri Neyveli Santhanagopalan, and regarded so by many rasikas, is an A-grade artist of Chennai All India Radio and Doordarshan.
-A versatile musician with proficiency in vocal, veena & the flute in the Carnatic styles, Bhavani has won the All India Radio National award at age 17, awards from the Music Academy & Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai, and won titles in Chennai & Mysore in India, and in the US..
-Bhavani is a disciple of SangIta Kalacharya Smt. Suguna Varadachari & SangIta Kalanidhi Dr. N. Ramani after learning from Sri A.V. Prakash and Smt. Vasantha Subramaniam, her mother. Performed vocal concerts, veena concerts, flute concerts, and has been part of dance Arangetrams on vocals, flute or veena.
-Bhavani has performed 3000 concerts all over India including Chennai sabhas, Chennai & Mysore All India Radio stations, in the US, French Islands, Singapore & Mauritius.
-Bhavani has played veena with Chitravina Ravikiran on 2 concerts, played a flute duet with Thiagarajan Ramani(son of Dr. N. Ramani), played veena accompaniment to seasoned Chennai vocalists Dr. Nandita Ravi and Sarojini Sundaresan, disciple of Alathur Brothers (CMANA concert)
-Bhavani performed a 12-hour Music Marathon Concert in Vani Mahal, Chennai in 2013 with Chennai accompanying artists.
-Bhavani has trained students on vocal, veena & flute, some of whom are performing regularly.
